Weather Sealing For UPVC Window Frames
The weather strip reduces water insert and prevents energy loss in doors and windows. If the correct weather strip is installed correctly, energy can be saved significantly.
Old windows and leaky doors are serious violations of the energy loss caused by air leakage (called “penetration”) from windows, doors and walls. If you hear windows rattling on a windy day, feel the air blowing, or see light between the moving parts of the window or outer door, you can bet that heating or cooling the air is costly. In exchange, you will experience uncomfortable draught in winter and excess calories in summer.
Even new doors and windows with integral (built-in) weather strips may need improvement. Poor quality materials, improper installation of doors and windows or damaged weather strips may result in poor sealing. Again, the result is energy loss and draught.
